A thoroughly professional and clinical performance from City on Saturday. In truth the game was over within minutes from the start as Royston Gough bagged a couple early on and the team began running through the Lydd defence with seeming ease. The only surprise was the delay before the third came, Gough completing his hat-trick from the spot after a clear hand ball. Lydd managed to grab one back just before half time, at that point a desperately needed goal to maybe give then some sort of hope of a comeback in the second half.

But it wasn't to be. Now playing down the slope, City surged forward with attack after attack, everybody getting involved and most thinking they had a chance to get on the score sheet. Goal 4 was down to the good work of Dan Bonnywell, a fantastic run and centre and as the ball pinged around in the box Scott Lawford took control and slammed the ball home. Bonnywell got the fifth, a neat piece of control before shooting home. Dave Read started to get forward more and more, now he had been released of his recent centre half duties, and got number 6. Jamie Maxted, good to see him back, weighed in with a couple, including one from a missed Bonnywell penalty that should have given him a hat-trick as well, having just got his second with another penalty. Three penalties to one side in the same game, is rare, but the truth is, there could not have possibly been any complaints from Lydd over any of them.

A fine all out attacking performance from City, hopefully the've saved some for the cup next week.

Thanks Karthoarse! I'd be lost a little bit without your supporters view of things. Keep them coming, please!

Hi, my first Canterbury match last Saturday, and yes, it seemed pretty plain sailing from kick-off really. Hopefully we can keep this up, will be at the high school on Sat to see the cup game.
