Considering the conditions, it was a wonder that any football was played at all. It may have rained incessantly, but the pitch held up, much better then Bridge did last year against Tenterden, although the conditions were very similar, and to be fair to both sides, a good game ensued.
With some assistance from the referee, who continuously ignored the linesman's flag, City quickly found themselves 4-0 to the good. At least one looked offside, possibly two and another should have been given as a free kick to the Uni during the build up, but still, that's how it goes and as it's been said before these things even themselves out over the season, well here they evened themselves out in the second half as the new Uni linesman appeared to be flagging for every through ball offside or not!
There was no coming back for the Uni after that, as City held firm, man of the match for me was James Brooke in midfield, and a couple of good performances from Tony Jackson at centre half and Ben Smith also in midfield. The forwards did what they do best, bagging all 6 goals between them, whilst not always taking the best striking options! A good game in atrocious conditions, then home to dry off!

Mission accomplished! Six goals, three points, Wayne got the three goals I suggested would be a good parting gift before his ban starts and the Mrs thinks I was visiting my Mum instead of going to 'bloody football' again! Well done City. I hate students me!
