Folkestone InvictaYes, difficult to know what to say about tonights game.
Nothing very exciting, a few close efforts for both sides, Dave Read hit the bar and then gave City the lead, a quality goal from Folkestone to draw level and that's about it.
Probably a bit of relief for all when the 50p in the meter ran out and the floodlights went off 5 minutes early causing the game to finish before time.
Lots of changes in personnel, understandable in a pre-season friendly, but doesn't help the flow of football. We don't look quite so secure with 3 centre backs, and our deadball and corner situations still need some work. On the plus side - John Salter had a great game, Ian Hossick and Sam Rigden played well as did Dave Read. Michael Seagers played well at left back, a timely performance as there now looks like there is a vacancy there, and that long throw of his could be well useful for Royston and Wayne to run on to.
Apart from that - I'm off to wash the squares out of my eyes from peering through that bloody fence around the pitch!!

good result and performance, wasnt that impressed with Folkestone to be honest, quite poor really, Gough hopefully will get some confidance soon, and karl to find the net, the ginger fella had a good game, Salter worries me at times with his runs and positional sense which could be costly and was almost at times last night, but a good prospect with out doubt, I still think we have more to give, we have become abit direct. dont know if that is due to the new additions, and how they have played before, but hopefully once the team settles, normal service will resume. I actually like the 3 at the back, looked good last night, over the two halfs I felt the y created less in the 2nd than in the 1st which with a packed midfield gives the 3 cover, I think we have alot of attacking options and with a 343 or 352, allows us to create, which we did. We created more scoring oportunities in the 2nd half, but failed to convert (shooting practice I think dave). Would like to see it tested at Faversham and Hythe aginst two good opositions.

personally, I would like to hear what dave has to say about the game and how the new players are settling in.

I think the strongest squad was played at margate is my personal opinion! There are a few players i think from watching the reserves last year who can make more of an impact given time. the likes of williams, langiano, dodd and wolcott are all players that i beleive will make very handy players in the future given there chance. The lads against folkstone well done it was a tough match. Lets hope city goes from strength to strength throughout the season! strength in depth is very obvious dave must feel like jose!
